Thanks again for visiting our website! We look forward to seeing you in worship. It’s important to us that you feel welcome and comfortable the minute you step foot in our doors, so we’ve taken the liberty to answer some commonly asked and “not-so-commonly asked” questions. This way you have no surprises!

Commonly Asked Questions

What is the dress code?
There are no restrictions for the way you dress. How you’re dressed is not important when it comes to worship, so come as you are and be ready for a blessing!

Will someone show me where to sit?
Yes, our ushers will greet you at the door of the sanctuary. They will also assist you with finding a seat.

Am I required to give an offering?
No, it is not a requirement for you to give an offering, however, if you desire to do so please give whatever your heart desires.

Should I put my offering in the provided envelope?
There are various options if you choose to give.  Yes, please put your offering in the envelope located on the backside of every pew. If an offering envelop is not available please alert an usher and an offering envelop will be provided. An offering can also be given virtually through PayPal, Cash App, and Square.

Do you have Sunday School?
Yes, Sunday School takes place every Sunday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. A member will direct you to the appropriate Sunday School class.

Am I required to attend Sunday School?
No, Sunday School is not a requirement.  But we believe that studying God’s Word is the only way we grow and become good disciples for Christ. Therefore, we encourage visitors and our members to attend Sunday School.

Do I have to be a member to attend classes?
No, We encourage anyone who wants to study the Word of God to come and participate in our studies.

Should I bring my child(ren) with me to church?
Yes.

How are visitors acknowledged during the service?
Visitors are encouraged to meet the Pastor at the end of service.

How long are the services?
Our services usually last about 90 minutes.

How do I join St. John Missionary Baptist Church?
At the close of the Pastor’s sermon, the pastor will open the doors of the church and we sing a hymn of Invitation. During the singing of this hymn, should you feel led by the Spirit of God to unite with St. John Missionary Baptist Church, you are invited to make your way to the front where the Pastor is waiting to receive you.

Can I come to other services at St. John, or should I wait until the upcoming Sunday?
We welcome you to come to any service that we have! We would love to see you again!
